Chronet started as a Garry’s Mod community. We ran a roleplay server from 2012 to 2018, then took a long break. Terrestrial, its successor, is in development. All 160 update posts are under the Changelog tab, and the Steam group is still going.
What it was
A mod of a mod of a mod.
Chronet Roleplay was a standalone DarkRP mod, for Garry’s Mod, which started out as a Source engine mod.

Overhauled trading system · Brand new trading window. · Has all the requested features such as "Add x to trade" and "All all to trade" · Backend has been optimised.
Full logs now available for trading. Will make logs available to admins and players soon.

Disabled Atmos due to GMod update causing lag with it.

Weapon searching a handcuffed player will now reveal weapons they had on them before they were handcuffed.
Repair kits now fix broken tires again.
Vehicles now explode and catch fire for 30 seconds when they crash. Can only use a repair kit on a vehicle when they're not on fire.
Players are now teleported back to jail if they're already arrested and an arrest baton is used on them.
Goverment Officials can now only resign at their appropriate NPC (Eg. As Police you have to go to the PD to quit, you can't /resign anywhere)
Job playtime requirement changes: · Mayor = 24 hours · Police Chief = 16 hours
Police Officer = 8 hours

Updated Government Radio system · Press G for push-to-talk gov radio. · Press T to change gov radio channel. · There are 2 channels, All Government Officials and Mayor and Police Chief (listen only) · As a normal Government Official, you can use the All channel to use the gov radio as normal. · If you don't want to hear other Government Officials (Ie. General radio chat that everybody talks in), then switch to the Mayor and Police Chief Only channel. That way you'll only hear the Mayor/Police Chief (Ie. Important stuff only - hopefully) · As Chief/Mayor, you only have 1 channel and unfortunately will hear everyone as normal. May change this in future.

Added Steam family sharing alt account blocking
If a player is banned on the server and tries to access the server through Steam family sharing, they will not be allowed to join.

Vehicles fuel now saves over the current server session.
So if you respawn your car now, it will have the amount of fuel you left it with.
Fuel cans now working to refuel cars · As expected, touch a car with a fuel can and it will refill to 100L.
Can only refill car if it has less than 10L fuel.
Fixed vehicles not starting after reaching 0 fuel, filling up, and trying to start the car again.
When a vehicle is out of fuel, a warning will be showed in the center of your screen if you're in the drivers seat.

Lots of network optimisations · Money, bank, playtime network vars changed to only sync locally. · This is rather huge. This will help a huge amount with network overhead on the server. Meaning better performance!
The only thing that players will notice that's changed, is that to check a player's playtime on the scoreboard, you'll need to hit the little refresh button on the bottom left of that player's info dropdown. Also moved the mute button on scoreboard.
New spawn system when player spawns for the first time
Custom spawns are now used, instead of the built in map ones. Should prevent death by spawn.

New network library. · This is a rather massive change. Anything that relates to client <-> server = networking. The back end networking library has been changed. With this should come a lot of optimisation, which results in less overhead and better server responsiveness, etc
There will guaranteed be bugs due to the complexity of the changes. It's also something that I cannot test alone. Please report them and will fix them ASAP.
Optimised how player's speed is managed (Ie. How your speed is slowed down when tied, stunned, etc).
Fixed watch/clock time. Time is now properly synced from server to client and across players.
Fixed custom laws not being synced to players when joining server.
Optimised AFK checker.
Optimised drowning.
Also, paper hats will be non-wearable in the coming weeks. So enjoy them while they last.

Increased playtime requirement for Mayor to 12 hours.
Votekicking now requires 5 days of playtime (as well as Premium).
Increased internal model precache table to limit of 3000 (from 900). This is due to the latest GMod update that doubled the model precache table limit.

Added vehicle fuel system · All owned vehicles spawn with fuel. Currently each car has 100 litres, tank size depending on the car will be implemented in the near future. · Fuel goes down as you drive the car. Idling uses very limited fuel, driving slowly also uses less fuel than driving fast. Fuel consumption rates will be implemented per car soon too. · When a vehicle runs out of fuel it will stop. · Fuel can be bought from fuel pumps. · Fuel price is $1 per litre. Mayor can set fuel tax between 0 - 100%. Default tax is 10%. · Fuel currently DOES NOT save. This will be implemented in the next few days. · Fuel amount is shown on HUD when driver of vehicle.
Fuel cans currently don't work on a vehicle, will be added soon.
Added vehicle speed to HUD when you're driver.
Re-enabled selling vehicles.
Vehicles are now sold at their original price depending on when you bought them. So if you bought your vehicle before 31 August 2015 and their prices change in the update, they'll only sell for half the price you originally bought it for.

Added tire popping system · When you shoot a tire of a vehicle (must be the actual rubber part of the tire you'll see (and hear) the tire popping. · The tire of the car will be deflated and cause the car to be tilted.

Vehicle price changes
Rebalanced most vehicle prices to better match their worth and real world pricing (price ranges are more realistic/authentic now).
All prices are subject to change. As with all balancing, feedback is necessary. So before complaining and flaming, kindly state what you think is now too expensive/cheap.

Automatic Server Restart
The server will now automatically restart daily at 11AM GMT+0 (7AM EST, 4AM PDT). This is partially to combat full precache table crashes as well as just general cleanup. This will happen no matter how many players are on the server and no matter when the server last crashed/restarted. Warning messages are sent at 5 minute intervals from 30 minutes before restart, so you'll have more than enough time to finish your farming, etc.

New mining/rock system
Rocks now randomly spawn around the map instead of being in one area. · Amount of rocks depends on players currently on the server. · There are currently around 180 unique locations for rocks.
Once a rock is destroyed, a new one will spawn somewhere else (this check is done every few minutes).
When a rock is hit with a pickaxe, the rock will "degrade". It will move into the ground, it will disappear when it's almost into the ground.
Hitting a rock is no longer a 'process'. Hitting a rock will immediately give you a mineral or will fail.
Added coal and sulphur.
Balanced pickaxe chance rate, pickaxe break chance.
Changed pickaxe model, sounds, etc.
Lowered rock base sell price to $10
Added gunpowder · Need blueprint to craft. Can be found in dumpsters (low chance).
Requires 10 coal and 5 sulphur to craft. Requires furnace.
Changed metal ore and rock item model.
Balanced chances to get the various ores from rocks.
As this is a huge change (since it affects crafting weapons, etc), things may not be balanced correctly. Please report back if something is overpowered or underpowered. Also note that new ores and other uses for ores will be added in the coming weeks.

Converted crafting tab icons to use new system.
C4 now requires gunpowder, instead of glue.
Increased bread cook time to 2 minutes.
Slightly changed dumpster drop chances.
Changed collision group of spike strips (should now be able to see who spawned them again).

Disconnected players entities are no longer immediately removed on disconnect. · A player's entities will only be removed 5 minutes after they disconnect. · If the player reconnects within 5 minutes, their props will not be removed and they will be able to continue where they left off.
May be buggy on certain entities. Does not work on doors.
New item entity spawn system - just backend changes, but might have introduced a bug.
Prop ownership (reload on physgun) will show owners Steam ID if they have disconnected.

Halloween update!
Every few minutes a wave of bot zombies will spawn.
The wave will last for a 5 minutes.
Zombies will spawn every 3 seconds when wave is active.
Zombies have between 100-300 health.
They deal between 20-40 damage per hit.
Maximum of 35 zombies on map.
Killing zombies may reward you with loot.
Use the loot to craft weapons and other things! To craft things, use the crafting tables around the map!
Crafting tables change location every 5 minutes.
Yes, you can craft hats (or masks in this case). They're not going to last forever though.

Government Entrance Exam
All players are required to pass this exam if they wish to become a Government Official
Can take the exam by asking the NPC in the Police Department.
The exam has a number of questions on it. Everything is explained on the exam
Exam is multiple choice. Each choice has a point value attached to it. You must score a total of 14 points or higher to pass the exam.
Passing the exam will allow you to become a G.O. (This is saved, only have to do it once).
Failing the exam will result in a 30 minutes cooldown. You need to pass the exam before becoming a G.O.
Radio Broadcasting updates
Can now pick up microphone/radio (Only the owner can pick them up).
Added a "Play Music" (from radios) option in F4.
Added a volume (of music) option in F4. Value of 0-100.
Fixed music randomly playing near cash converters.

Updated/reworked chemical lab and empty drum.
Can now "Open and Close Valve". The Chem Lab will not produce any chemicals when the valve is closed.
Empty drum must now be constantly placed under the tap for the barrel to fill up with chemicals.
Chem lab will constantly produce chemicals every 30 seconds if the valve is open. If there are not enough of one ingredient to product chemicals, it will still waste the other ingredients. (Eg. If there is no water left, but there is Iodine and Methylamine, 10% of Iodine will still be taken, and 5% of Methylamine will still be taken). This requires you to have to open and close the valve as necessary to put more of an ingredient in. There are specific sounds played to indicate problems (Eg. Splash sound played when no drum under tap).
Empty drum will fill up with chemicals by 10% (from 0% when empty, to 100% when full) every time chemicals are product. Can pick the empty drum up when it's at 100% to get the chemical inside (Currently on Liquid Meth chemical).
Added Alcohol/Drunk system
Drinking alcohol will make you drunk. It will also make you lose health.
Drunk effect creates motion blur and make your view sway.
The more you drink, the more your drunk effect increases (above).

Items ordered on Market are delivered to your mailbox. See below.
Added Mailbox system (different from the old one): · All items bought from the Market go to your mailbox. · Players can press E on a mailbox to view items in their mailbox. · Mailboxes are located around the map. · Mailboxes are saved over sessions. · Certain items now have a 'manufacturing time'. This is the time it takes for the item to appear in your mailbox after being ordered for the Market.
Mailbox capacity: Guests: 50 weight. Premium: 75 weight.
Recoded quite a bit of the Market tab. Everything should dock better now (Buy button, price label, etc should be centered properly now). Hovering over item price will show sales tax.
Black Market
Added a Black Market system. This is a WIP.
The Black Market sells mainly illegal items.
Added Black Market NPC. · The Black Market NPC moves around the map every 60 minutes. · There around around 10 pre-configured locations for the NPC to move to. · Items sold by Black Market are shuffled when the NPC moves · Some items have a high chance to be sold by Black Market NPC. Eg. Molotov Blueprint · Some items have a low chance to be sold. Eg AWP. · Item prices change when the NPC moves. Items are configured with a "Fluctuation" price.
Once again, items such as the AWP blueprint will have a base price of $60 000, and a Fluctuation price of $40 000. So the price can be anywhere between $60 000 and $100 000. It is completely random at what the price will be.
Mining
Added chance to mine metal ore.
Changed amount of rocks/ore to mine to random value between 1-3.
Higher chance to find rocks than metal ore (uses new weight based system)
New mining animation.
Crafting
Added new crafting system.
Crafting now done through F4 Menu - Crafting tab.
Players can study blueprints to learn how to craft a specific item.
Blueprints are saved to your character. They're currently permanent.
Some recipes require a furnace.
Must be near to a furnace with fuel to craft these items.
Handcuffing and Arresting
New handcuffing system.
You must be behind a player to handcuff them.
Progress bar is shown when handcuffing a player.
Handcuffing a player takes a few seconds.
Handcuff cooldown of 10 seconds.
Bone manipulation when a player is handcuffed. This means a player will have their hands physically behind their back when they're handcuffed.
Handcuffing is now 'indefinite' by default. Players are no longer only handcuffed for 2 minutes.
Right clicking still uncuffs a player.
Players must be handcuffed in order for you to arrest them. You cannot arrest unhandcuffed players.
NLR
New NLR system is now integrated into the gamemode.
Removed 'Zones Addon'.
You'll now be 'slayed' if you are in the NLR zone for too long.
You will not be slayed if your NLR zone is where you spawned.
Admins can clear players NLR zones (in case of RDM, etc)
Character/Player changes
Added Roleplay names. · Players must select a RP name (First and Last name) when they join the server. · Added Roleplay Name column to scoreboard. · Players can currently NOT change their RP names. Will be able to in the future
Admins however can force a player to change their RP name by rejoining the server.

As always, fixes a few things, adds a few things, etc.
Health Kits and Health Vials now heal over time. · Health Kits heal will heal 5HP per second until full health. · Eg. If you have 50HP and use a health kit, you will heal 5HP for 10 seconds (100HP - 50HP = 50HP. 50HP/5 = 10 seconds). Premium will obviously heal to 125HP. If your health is further reduced while you are being healed, you will only for the amount of seconds you initially were going to heal for to get to your max health.
Health Vials will heal 5HP per second, but only heal 25HP
Added 60 seconds cooldown to using Health Kits and Health Vials (cooldown is shared)
Increased Health Kit weight to 2 units.
Lowered Radio Broadcaster playtime requirement to 1 hour.
Updated Motorbike, Go-Kart and Bus to latest addon version (Fixes errors, etc).
Lowered chance to break legs upon falling to 10%.
Reworked handcuffs a bit · Left click handcuffs the player for 2 minutes (same as before). · Right click unhandcuffs the player.
Reload will send a request to the player to ask them if they would like to be handcuffed indefinitely (they won't automatically be unhandcuffed after 2 minutes). This is useful for people who actually know how to RP, etc.
Can't change jobs while handcuffed.
When uncuffed, confiscated weapons from being handcuffed won't be given back to the player if they are a Government Official.

As per before, if the briefcase is picked up by a non government job, the player gets 10% of what's inside.

Added new hands/fists (Credits to Timo) · Now uses GMod hands system (Your view model will match your player model and colour) · Fists can be lowered/raised with right click. Your fists will be shown with an actual animation (meaning players can see if you have your fists out or not). · Can punch with left click when your fists are raised. A punching animation will shown too. · Health cap is set at 20HP. If you have 20HP or less, you will not take punching damage (I could always make a toggle option in F4 that would make you susceptible to damage when lower than 20HP. For fight clubs, etc?)

Added City Vault · The City Vault (in the form of a money pile) is now situated in the city vault room of the map. · All money that goes into the city funds is also transferred in the City Vault. So City Funds = City Vault basically. · The City Vault has a robbery system built into it. · To rob the City Vault, a player can walk up to it and press e on it. This will start a countdown. Then player will also be automatically wanted. · The player must stay alive for 5 minutes to successfully rob the City Vault. · If the player dies, is arrested, or moves out of range (400 units) of the City Vault - the robbery will fail. · If the robbery fails or is successful, a 20 minute cooldown is initiated on the City Vault. Players will be unable to rob the City Vault during the cooldown. · Only certain jobs can rob the City Vault. · There must be at least 10 players on the server to rob the City Vault. There must also be a minimum of 5 Police or SWAT on the server to rob the City Vault. · The maximum amount of City Funds/money in the City vault is $30 000.
The City Vault has completely replaced the old system where money would spawn in the city vault when the city funds overflows $20k.

Added Fishing Rod breaking system. · Fishing Rods have a chance of breaking when you catch/find a random item (Eg. Rock, paint, etc). Currently a 20% chance to break. · If a fishing rod breaks, you will be stripped of your current fishing rod, and given a broken Fishing Rod in your inventory. · Broken Fishing Rods need to be repaired with a hook. · To repair a broken fishing rod - Press "Repair" when you click on it in your inventory. Added NLR Zone system. · When you die (and are not revived), a NLR zone will be created at your death position. · If you enter this zone, you will start taking damage (if you go any closer). Admins will also be alerted that you are breaking NLR. · A big wire-framed sphere will be shown to indicate where your NLR zone(s) are, it's impossible to miss them. Only you will be able to see your NLR zone(s) · Big red text will also be shown in the middle of your screen if you enter a NLR zone. · You can have multiple NLR zones. · The NLR Zone will stay there for 5 minutes, after which it will disappear and you may return to your place of death.
If you die near spawn (Ie. Hospital), the NLR zone won't damage you, but you will be warned with the big red text.
Recovery time on spawn has been reduced to 1 minute.
Recovery speed has been made faster, you will now heal 1HP every 0.5 seconds (which in the hospital).
Fixed economy being able to get less than -50 if Mayor dies.

Added server-side death ragdoll system
Ragdolls are now server side (Meaning they will be in the same position to everyone and are actually physical ragdolls)
Information about the dead player ragdoll now shown on HUD (Eg. If it's an unconscious player or a corpse).
Ragdolls can be "burnt".
Player ragdolls contain information about how player was killed, etc (Only viewable by Detective job)
Ragdolls stay until the owner of the ragdoll is killed again. (So each player can only have 1 ragdoll at a time)
EDIT: Temporarily made bodies automatically disappear after 3 minutes. This will be changed in the future so that bodes only disappear after a time if they are not investigated.
Added Detective job.
Can investigate corpses to see how the player was killed and how long ago they were killed.
Requires 24 hours playtime.
As this is a new job and there will be demand for it, the max amount if 4. After a week or so they limit will be changed to 2.

After a "maximum respawn time" you will be forcefully respawn. Default is 120 seconds. Mayor has 300 seconds to respawn, other Government Officials have a max respawn time of 180 seconds.

Other players can once again plant a seeds in any weed plant.
Weed seeds can be planted a maximum of 3 times in one pot.
After the pot has been planted in 3 times, it must be picked it up. It will be removed after 5 minutes if it is not planted in again.
Fixed a few small errors.
Known bugs
F4 menu "resets" itself every time it's opened
Eg. Doesn't save last tab that you opened
Eg. Doesn't save collapsible categories that you have expanded.

Updated DarkRP to latest version
Supposedly fixes bugs such as law desync and lockdown not being shown to players who join during one. And other stuff.
Removed FAdmin scoreboard.
Added new scoreboard.
Updated version of a very old DarkRP scoreboard (Heavily modified to suit our needs)
The players rank icon will be displayed next to their name.
Clicking on a players name on the scoreboard will shown information about said player.
Their Steam ID (Clipboard copying coming soon)

Added new above head player name system
Should be able to clearly see player names now.

New Secret Agent stuff
Secret Agents will now be shown on the scoreboard with the team name and colour that they are disguised as.
Secret Agents above head player name colour are now dependent on what disguise they have on.
Secret Agents can now equip any weapon from their inventory.
Added Mafia to disguises
Temporarily increased Secret Agent limit to 6, due to surge of players that will be playing it now.
Added holster timer.
Players are now frozen and a progress bar is shown when trying to holster a weapon.
You will be unable to move when the progress bar is shown.
You can exit 'progress bar mode' by pressing F2 (As displayed).
Timer is currently set to 8 seconds (Might change in future, can see how it goes).

Fixed various exploits.

A few commands available for weather mod:
weather_volume [0-1] Set the volume of weather sound loops. Default "0.2".
weather_hud_effects [0/1] Enable the hud effects for weathers which use them. Default "1".
weather_performance_mode [0-2] Enable "Performance Mode". For players having FPS issues. Default "0". Maximum "2".

People will now have to enter an election to become Mayor
Players can enter the election by using F4 - Jobs and clicking on "Add name to ballot" next to the Mayor job.
After a player has entered the election, the election will begin in 5 minutes. (Other players wishing to be Mayor have 5 minutes to add their names to the ballot)
After 5 minutes all players will have to vote in the election.
Adjusted base prices of all sellable items.
All players are notified when taxes are changed.
Added anti-prop kill system.
Disabled crush damage (Things such as shutters, train, Mayor lift will no longer kill you)
Emergency Response Unit health kits have been adjusted.

Sounds will play when a player is hit in a certain body region. (Eg. A voice saying "Ow! My leg" will be played when a player is hit in the leg)
Recoded some of the recovery system (Again). Please report back if there is STILL the occasional problem. (Ie. Showing 29 minutes recovery time)
Tax rates are now reset (To 5%) when they Mayor dies or disconnects.
Health Kits now heal Premium players to 125HP
On another note, Advanced Duplicator 2 has been added to the server and is currently being tested. (Currently super admin only)

This is the start of a system which hopefully phases out parts of NLR and makes it easier to administrate.
When you "die" and respawn at the hospital you will be in a state of recovery.
Until your 5 minutes of recovery are up, you may not return to your place of death.
While in recovery you can't do certain things such as equip weapons or arrest people. (More to come soon)
